I love games and so does my Valentine, which is why we'll both be attending this month's event. In case you didn't already know, it's scheduled for this Saturday, February 13th, from 3-9pm. In the distant past we might have done themed decorations and food, but these days we get by on the usual pizza and pop; as long as the games are fun, nobody really cares what the room looks like.

The empty slot in the Prize Vault is getting filled by Bohnanza this month, which is a good filler game and is non-gamer-friendly (my mom even got the hang of it).

Make plans now to join us this Saturday and bring along your Valentine, maybe you can even win a free game to give him/her.

While not officially a GAMES! event, it still involves board games and it's still hosted at BRBC: on Friday, January 29th, starting at 6pm, a group of guys (presumably including you, if you're interested and fit into the category of "guys") will be getting together for pizza and games. What started as an informal gathering to play Risk has become an actual event, complete with a start time (6pm) and a food strategy (bring $3-5 to chip in for pizza to be ordered from the Edgewood HyVee, I'm told). The event will run "until whenever" and should theoretically be just as welcoming as a GAMES! event, though there will not a be a game give-away.

That's all the info I have at the moment, but it should be enough for the purposes of adding the event to your calendar. If you have any questions about it, make a comment on the GAMES! website and I'll be sure to find answers for them. Larry is the guy putting this event together and I'm sure he can offer more info as necessary. This month we had 25 people show up to play games and had lots of fun. I saw at least a dozen different games played, including Zendo, Small World, Garbage, Dominion, San Juan, Kingsburg, Formula D and several others. Unfortunately, I forgot to pack my camera, so there aren't any fresh photos to enjoy.

Kevin won the door prize and grabbed Age Of Discovery. Hopefully he'll report back on how it is, since we hadn't ever played it before.

Next month we'll be back on the second Saturday, even though it is Valentine's Day weekend. Maybe you'll just have to plan on bringing your sweetie along to play games. Put it on your calendar now, just in case: Saturday, February 13th from 3-9pm. We'll see you there!
